Philosophy

The philosophy ICYT is based on the whole student; therefore, ICYT believes that its Educational Enhancement Coaches (EEC) must cater to the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of a student while attending to the various learning styles (spatial, logic-mathematical, linguistic, bodily-kinesthetic, naturalist, musical, interpersonal, and intra-personal) which will ensure optimal academic progress. Giving students the opportunity to work at their own pace while allowing them to share their thoughts and ideas, ask questions, explore topics, and become not only listeners, but thinkers with a balanced amount of structure and control are advantageous. Resulting in students becoming confident individuals who are responsible learners that receive a positive and successful educational experience. By providing such an environment, students are allowed to experience learning in a variety of ways which allows for higher academic performance.

ICYT’s Approach

ICYT’s approach is individualized one-on-one instruction within the classroom (‘push in program’) and/or outside of the classroom (‘pull out program’)-wherever it is convenient for a student and their family (e.g. school, library, day care, church, community center, etc.) to meet. In addition, academic learning plans that best fit the needs of students are created and implemented to cater to the whole student intellectually, physically, socially, and cognitively, while attending to the various learning styles (spatial, logic-mathematical, linguistic, bodily-kinesthetic, naturalist, musical, interpersonal, and intra-personal) that allow for optimal learning.
